So, I'm going away for the weekend. I'm leaving directly from work. The car is loaded, the pets are fed and watered for the weekend, all is ready for me to leave town. Except one thing... I forgot to turn off my alarm clock, so it'll be beeping away, LOUDLY, at 6:10 am, and will continue beeping like that for an hour. My housemates will not be pleased.
So, I figured I'd call one of them and just have them go in my room and shut it off tonight so that it does not disturb their beauty sleep in the morning. As I was preparing to dial, the awful thought struck me. There are two vibrators on the bedside table, right next to the alarm clock. I'm not particularly close to my housemates. Frankly, I don't even like them most of the time. I really don't need them knowing about the piece of sparkly purple plastic and silicone that has been my best friend lately.
I rushed out of the office in a whirlwind, planning to get home and back before my friends arrived to head out of town with me. But that only gave me 30 minutes, and it's 24 minutes round trip in perfect conditions, plus two minutes to run into the house, only gave me 4 extra minutes to contend with the fact that it was rush hour on Friday. Thankfully Chip returned my frantic call- he is the only friend with a key to my house- and agreed to swing by and switch the clock off for me. He didn't even laugh when he asked "What's the big deal, why can't you just have your hosemate do it?" and I was so flustered all I could do was gasp "Vibrators!"
